Some of the best rappers out there are just that - rappers. Not every rapper you hear is a lyricist. When we first heard Kurupt on The Chronic, we knew this man was special. It's kind of fitting that his debut would be on Lyrical Gangbang.

TIP is a bit selective with the guests we have on the show, but we love our lyricists. Whether it's Redman, Pharoahe Monch, Black Thought, KRS-One, Jeru The Damaja, Ras Kass or Roc Marciano, we don't want to just throw them a tribute, we want to pick their brain and extract those amazing stories as well.

On episode 95, you'll get those amazing stories from Kurupt. He goes into great detail about the Death Row dynasty. We hear about Dre, Snoop, Nate and Pac.

We also touch on topics most don't, such as his return to Death Row Records when everyone had jumped ship. We discuss the South Philly mob ties he had at Antra Records and why he took shots at A Tribe Called Quest.

We get into just about everything and on top of that, we have 3 stellar mixes sandwiched in episode making sure they'll never be another Kurupt Tribute quite like this one. Who is crazy enough to create a 6 hour tribute? Take It Personal Radio.

Episode 94 is our 5th and final installment of our 1993 tribute. We close-out the series with music from Souls of Mischief, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Eazy-E, Ultramagnetic MC's, Kurious, M.O.P., Black Moon, Preacher Earl, Shadz of Lingo, Rumplestilkinz and Shyheim.

And speaking of Shyheim, you know we had to share our thoughts on the whole Drink Champs fiasco. At the break we discuss the '93 remixes and where they rank. Kev does a killer Vinnie Paz impersonation and we finally announce the winners of our Get On Down giveaway.

After 5 episodes and 16+ hours of music, memories and laughs, we are officially done with 1993. We hope you enjoyed it!

At the break, we discuss what 1993 songs are worthy of being mentioned among the top 50 greatest hip-hop songs of all-time. You might be surprised with what you hear.

Remember, you can still enter our Get Down giveaway. Simply tag us on Instagram  @takeitpersonalradio, and tell us which of the "3" 1993 Cypress Hill singles were NOT produced by DJ Muggs and you'll have a chance to win some classic albums courtesy of Get On Down. And now, let's start the show...

Episode 90 is our 1st installment of our 1993 Tribute. Last year we put together a strong case as to why we thought 1995 was one of the greatest years. This time around we're paying homage to 1993, my favorite year in hip-hop.

We've got the classics, the commercial jawns, the remixes, and in typical TIP fashion, the obscure records as well. We aren't sure how deep this tribute will get, but we'll give you everything we've got! At the break, we discuss our favorite '93 albums, the sleepers, the wack, the guilty pleasures, and at the 2nd break its all about the WU!

Enjoy episode 90 as we intertwine some memorable movie scene with very memorable music. This is your 1993 time capsule and it's brought to you by your friends at Take It Personal Radio.

With the Summer Olympics going on and episode 89 being a '92 celebration, we couldn't think of a better way to pay homage than with the legendary Sports Illustrated cover featuring the '92 Dream Team.

Episode 89 is an appetizer, as we take a quick-trip down memory lane before making a hard stop on one of the greatest years hip-hop. Instead of feeding you the played-out '92 classics, we focus on the deep album cuts and some of our more obscure favorites of '92. We've got music from Positive K, Diamond D, Grand Puba, Too $hort, MC Serch, Compton's Most Wanted, Paris, Heavy D, Gang Starr, Above The Law, X-Clan, Ultramagnetic MC's and DJ Quik to name a few.

At the break, we reminisce over '92, discuss some of our favorite albums, share some fond memories and give you the ultimate 1992 time capsule as we cover sports, movies and music.

On Episode 88, we're joined by radio and TV personality, Peter Rosenberg. Whether you know him from HOT 97, ESPN or WWE Wrestling, you know Peter is never short of opinions or great stories.

We get into his new album "Real Late" and we chop it up about HOT 97, WWE and all things hip-hop. This interview was a lot of fun. It was funny, nerdy, insightful and as usual, Peter shares some great stories about icon legends such as Q-Tip, Ric Flair and Mike Tyson. We also hear about his least favorite on-air guests, we talk MF DOOM, Roc Marciano, Randy "Macho Man" Savage and the thin line between white and hate in hip-hop.  You definitely don't want to miss this discussion!

And what would make a TIP show complete? How about new bangers from Ransom, Apathy, The Good People, Skyzoo, Vic Spencer, Maylay Sparks, Daniel Son, Khrysis, Lloyd Banks, Your Old Droog, Edo. G & Insight and Mach-Hommy to name a few!

When you hear the term "your rappers favorite rapper", they're are talking about Kool G. Rap. Whether you consider him the G.O.A.T. or  somewhere in your Top 5, there is no denying that Kool G. Rap is one most influential rappers of all-time.

And when celebrating a god like KGR, you don't half-ass it with some 60 minute tribute mix. You know on Take It Personal, when we do a tribute, we go all-out. So, this Kool G. Rap Tribute is a 2-parter where each episode will contain two 1+ hour mixes as well as our exclusive Kool G. Rap interview.

Whether you like Nas, Jay, Big, Pun, Em, Black Thought or any other great lyricist, just know they're great because of Kool G. Rap. The multis, the wordplay, the humor, the violence, the voice and god-like ability to tell a story, there' is NOBODY quite like him.

The man of the hour sat down with us to discuss his illustrious career. We talk Marley Marl, Eric B., Kane and the whole Juice Crew. We get into his favorite mobster movies, favorite verse of all-time and we even make him pick his own top 5. We discuss Nas, Black Thought, Masta Ace, Pun and Necro. We even cover the Rawkus debacle and much more.

Don't forget to follow us @takeitpersonalradio, as we'll be announcing the winners of our Michael Kreiser Hip-Hop Comic Art contest on this tribute.

If there was a poster that defined the indie hip-hop movement, it would have the face of The Mighty Mos Def on it. Whether you first heard him on My Kung Fu, The Love Song or Stakes Is High Remix, you immediately knew what you heard was special. We're talking a generational talent. Mos Def had the voice, the sound, the style, the charm, the humor, the endless stories and the ability to spit bars as great as singing those melodic hooks. A real dual-threat. Triple-threat when you factor in his acting chops.
If LL Cool J is the face of Def Jam, Mos Def is the face of Rawkus. He breathed new life into hip-hop in the late 90s. Mos was the last Jedi able to carry on that Native Tongues torch. On Episode 85, we cover the catalog, the guest spots and discuss our favorite Mos Def moments.
Don't forget to follow us @takeitpersonalradio, as we have an exciting giveaway on this episode.

Episode 83 is a tribute to "Mafioso" rap. We thought it would be fun to incorporate some of our favorite Sopranos scenes throughout this show to properly pay respects to the lost and limited art of "true" mafioso rap. There is only one Godfather and that is Kool G. Rap, so, naturally Episode 83 is laced with plenty of his best mafia influenced tracks, but we also show love to mid-90s where lyricists like AZ, Jay-Z, Nas, Big Pun, Fat Joe, The Lox, Biggie and Raekwon did the sub-genre the best.

Plus, the crew joins Johnny Calzone in a wiseguy version of name that tune. Crack open a bottle of red, razor slice your garlic, grab some gabagool and remember, leave the guns, take the cannoli's.
